Welcome to the Year of the Rat Last Friday (02/01/2008), the Museum partied like it was 4706! To celebrate the Chinese New Year (officially on Feb. 7 but that's a Thursday and Fridays are much more conducive to celebrations) the Museum offered performances, music, food, art activities and more. More than 1,900 people enjoyed the evening which included a performance by the Shaolin Lohan Pai Lion Dance Troupe. The Shaolin Lohan Pai Lion Dance Troupe out of Saint Louis enjoyed a roar of applause as they opened the show with a traditional "Lion's Dance". This organization is awesome! I wish I could do half as much as they do. I saw them perform at Chinese Culture Days and the past three First Night events in St. Louis. I also got a chance to bring my son to their school to watch a class. The main teacher there is very patient teacher and an incredible martial artist. The classes were too difficult for my son.
